Receiving a World Airline award is certainly an honor today. There are many different categories where these awards are given. Some of them are traditional while others are not. These awards are given to airline around the world, both domestic and international. These awards are based on the opinions of the passengers so the results come from those who matter the most to the airline industry. Here are just a few of the recent results.
Asiana Airlines was named Airline of the year at the World Airline Awards, also known as the Passenger's Choice Awards. This year these awards took place in Hamburg, Germany. Coming in second after the winner was
Singapore Airlines. The other airlines that finished the top five were
Qatar Airways,
Cathay Pacific Airways and
Air New Zealand, in that order.
AirAsia,
Air Berlin and
Virgin Blue were the top winners of the World's Best Low-Cost Airline. These airlines set the bar high while keeping the prices low, which is one of the most important things to consumers today. The most expensive does not necessarily deliver the best services.
Thompson Airways received the award for the World's Best Leisure/Charter Airline. This category is particularly competitive because these users are often the most demanding out of all of the other types of consumers that utilize the airline industry.
Emirates won the award for World's Best Airline In-flight Entertainment for the fifth year in a row. They are particularly proud of this honor because they are able to retain this award for so long. They have proven that a long flight does not necessarily mean that the flight has to be boring. They are able to keep their demanding passengers happy and thoroughly entertained for years at a time. Each year the competition gets even fiercer as competing airlines look to strip them of their title.
