Air New Zealand is one of the best airlines flying in/out out of the South Pacific and Asia with just about a 90% on-time rating. But the Brisbane to Auckland flights are where the bulk of the delays are coming from, so we’ll have to give Air New Zealand some extra credit points on the whole for being prompt.
They’re not big competitors flying from New Zealand to Europe or North America, but do have partnership agreements with other airlines for most of those flights. Since they’re a member of the Star Alliance, you might just have a chance of landing a decent one. If you do manage to fly on Air New Zealand, depending on the aircraft, you’ll find the usual standardized seating in coach and comfortable enough business class on the short-haul flights.

Three classes are offered on the longer transpacific flights (economy, premium economy, and business). Bearing in mind, premium economy only offers a few more extra inches of legroom but you’ll at least have a footrest. But in all actuality, Air New Zealand should be considered a 3 ½ to 4-star airline.
Air New Zealand has introduced lie flat seats in economy class and the first to do that.
