Shanghai Airlines

Shanghai Airlines (SAL) has its head office in the Jing'an District of Shanghai. It caters to domestic and as well international flight services. Shanghai airlines has its main operating bases in the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport. It also has bases in Hangzhou and Nanjing. Shanghai airlines is regarded as the fifth-largest airline, in terms of fleet size, in China with a fleet of 52 aircraft that is made up of mostly Boeing aircraft.

The carrier was established in the year 1985 by the Shanghai municipal government. It was regarded as China’s first ever independently-run local airline. Initially it restricted its services to domestic flights only and it was in 1997 that it started to cater to the international market and expand its services to include long haul flights.

On December 12, 2007, Shanghai Airlines became the 19th member of the reputed Star Alliance™ and this partnership allows SAL to offer their passengers access to well over 1,000 destinations worldwide and swift connections around the world.

Shanghai airlines has been honored with the renowned Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA) program for its excellent and quality services. They also boast an impressive safety record with no known crashes or fatalities involving their aircraft since their inception.
