SAS Airlines

SAS, which was established in August, 1946, is the largest multinational airline of Sweden, Denmark and Norway and a leading carrier in Scandinavia. It is jointly owned by the state and several private partners in Norway, Denmark and Sweden.  A fact about this airline that many don’t know is that SAS (formerly known as Scandinavian Airlines) was also the founder of Spanair, Air Greenland, Thai International Airways and Linjeflyg.

SAS offers flights to almost 70 destinations around the world. And, as SAS is also one of the founding members of the reputed Star Alliance™, their destination list is expanded to well over 1,000 airports across the globe via their Star Alliance™ network partners. These partners include airlines such as; Air Canada, United Airlines, US Airways, Austrian Airlines, Continental and many others. (26 in total).

SAS was named Europe’s Most Punctual Airline of 2009 and have been the recipient of the Airline of the Year award on more than one occasion. They boast an impressive fleet of 138 airplanes which include: Airbus A340s, A330s, A321s, Boeing 737s and MD-81s, MD-82s. If you add to that the total number of airplanes operated by the Star Alliance™ then you’re looking at a grand total of almost 4,000 airplanes in the sky that SAS gives you access to!
