Royal Nepal Airlines

Royal Nepal Airlines, presently known as simply Nepal Airlines, is the national flag carrier of Nepal. It is based in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal and Tribhuvan International Airport is its main base of operation.

Royal Nepal Airlines was established in 1958. It began its service with only one Douglas DC-3 and its service back then was limited to Pokhara, Simara, Biratnagar and a few major cities of India such as Delhi, Calcutta and Patna. Once the airline expanded its fleet to include Fokker F27, Pilatus Porter and Twin Otter aircraft, Royal Nepal Airlines was able to extend its service further. With the Nepal landscape being made up of mostly mountains, it is no wonder that the infamous Yeti was taken on as the company mascot (and good luck charm!).

This led management to introducing the ‘Yeti Service’ that eventually became an important feature of this airline and remained a favorite among travelers for many years.

The airline currently offers passengers flights to 10 international destinations which include: Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Osaka, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai and Singapore.

They also offer flights to more than 30 domestic destinations which allow access to regions that may be inaccessible otherwise because of Nepal’s mountainous terrain.
