Olympic Airlines is a Greek airline based in Athens, Greece. The company was founded in 1975. Olympic Airlines ceased operation and Olympic Air took over on September 29, 2009. Olympic Airlines did have to be held responsible for flights that had already been scheduled and had to ensure that those flights took place by allocating other carriers to take on the tasks.

The Olympic Air fleet currently consists of 8 models that make up the fleet of 44 planes. These models include: the Airbus A320-200, Airbus A340-300X, ATR 42-320, ATR 72-202, Boeing 737-300, Boeing 737-400, McDonnell Douglas MD-83, and the Bombardier 8-102. The airline offers flights to close to 50 destinations around the world, including Canada, The United States, Europe and more.

Their safety record has involved a few notable crashes and incidents. The first Olympic Airlines crash occurred on October 29, 1959 in which 15 passengers and 3 crew members died. There have been 5 other fatal accidents since then with one passenger passing away in 1998 from an allergic reaction to cigarette smoke. After this fatality, the airline banned smoking on its flights.
