LOT Polish Airlines is a Warsaw-based airline that began in 1920, offering the first airline connections from Warshaw to other destinations. They currently fly to over 50 destinations around the world and as a member of the Star Alliance; LOT passengers are able to connect easily to more than 1,000 destinations across the globe. The Star Alliance is made up of 26 members including Air Canada, British Midland, TAP Air Portugal, Lufthansa, United Airlines and others. The Star Alliance fleet totals close to 4,000 airplanes.
Lot Polish Ailrines boasts a fleet of more than 60 airplanes with several more on order, including the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Their current fleet consists of; 170, Embraer 175, Boeing 737-500, Boeing 737-400, Boeing 767-300 ER, Embraer ERJ 145, ATR-72, and ATR-42-500.
The airline has won a number of awards such as multiple wins as recipient of the Best Airline in Central and Eastern Europe every year between 1998 and 2008. It has also been the recipient of the Superbrands award, Best Airline in Central and Eastern Europe award and others. And to further enhance their image and make themselves even more efficient, LOT is now putting measures in place to allow them to be a more “green” airline. Along with many others within the aviation industry, they are looking to operate under more environmentally friendly methods.
