Iberia Air is the flag carrier of the country of Spain, based in Madrid where they run and control a vast network of international services. Its primary hubs are located at the Barcelona El Prat Airport and the Madrid-Barajas Airport. In November of 2009, Iberia merged with British Airways. The merger between the two will create the third-largest airline in the world in terms of financial intake.
In flight services, specifically the meals are provided by a gourmet catering service known as Gate Gourmet. Economy class passengers traveling with Western Europe however have to buy food onboard through a food program called "Tu Menu"
Iberia operates a domestic fleet of 118 Airbus jet airliners with an addition 54 airlines, mostly Bombardier class, use for regional travel. Iberia intends to move toward using the Boeing 787 in the future for commercial flights and is considering the purchase and acquisition of these jet airliners.
Iberia Airlines is one of many commercial airline companies that utilize an e-ticket system to handle boarding and seat reservation. The airline encourages customers who make use of the e-ticket system to print all their boarding pass information prior to their flight. Thanks to the use of e-tickets, travelers with only carry-on baggage are able to proceed directly to the appropriate boarding gate for their flight immediately.
