The Asian airline scene is taking “light” to new heights. Everything is smaller, lighter, more portable, and easier to maneuver. Why? To cut down on fuel costs, of course. Fuel costs have been on the rise in the past years and airlines are the ones that suffer more than others. As a result, they are cutting back on everything.
You’ll notice it in your alcoholic beverages as they give smaller servings. Cutlery for your meals is made from lighter materials. Lighter reading is being provided and fewer meals are being offered. Even the meals themselves are lighter with smaller serving and lighter trays. Fliers may not notice as much but those little things add up. Behind the scenes things are lighter as well and that is where the concern comes in. Some have expressed concern that lighter technology means minimized safety and professionals are investigating the safety of these “light” measures.
