American Airlines which is headquartered in Forth Worth, Texas is one of the world’s best known and largest airlines. With close to 700 airplanes offering service to almost 300 destinations, American Airlines has really come a long way from a company that started out with 82 aircraft back in the 1920’s. While American Airlines has made news for their outstanding service as well as their 1999 purchase of TWA, in recent years they are best known for the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 when two of their airplanes were hijacked by terrorists. American Airlines flight 77 was crashed into the Pentagon and American Airlines flight 11 was crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Centre in New York.
