Alitalia recently merged with Air One and since integrating their services have proven to be a force to be reckoned with as far as world class travel goes. With 74 destinations around the world and over 2,500 flights operating daily, Alitalia has focused a great deal of care on creating a flight schedule that really caters to their customer’s needs. As a matter of fact, the airline continues to add destinations allowing for easy connections all over the world.
As Italy’s new flag carrier, Alitalia is working towards becoming even bigger and better. Their recently modernized and expanded fleet now consists of 148 airplanes that include; B777-200s and B767-300s and Airbus 330s for long-haul flights, Airbus 321s, 320s e 319s, MD80-82s and Boeing 737-400s and 737-300s for medium-haul flights and Embraer 170s, Bombardier CRJ900s and Avro RJ70s for their regional service.
The new and improved Alitalia has no known accidents or incidents and while the ‘old’ Alitalia had their share of incidents at one point, they have had no accidents since November 14, 1990 when a DC9 crashed in Zurich killing all 40 onboard. In their effort to continue to offer the best in comfort and safety, Alitalia continues to work on the modernization of their fleet and already offers one of the youngest fleet of all the airlines in Europe.
