Alaska Airlines has always "dressed" to the public eye. The original logo on the tail stabilizer of the plane is a native Eskimo in a parka, and it’s an image the company was set to redesign at one point.
Public outcry from natives to Alaska forced the company to settle and keep the image that still adorns the tail stabilizer of every Alaska Airline aircraft to this day.
The fleet has an impressive 112 aircraft, made up entirely of Boeing 737 class jet airliners that fly an equally impressive route system spanning over 90 destinations to cities in US, Canada and Mexico. And while many airlines are struggling as a result of tough financial times, Business Week recently reported that Alaska Airlines has had an increase in traffic of almost 10 percent since the start of 2010.
Alaska Airlines offers mileage plans and MVP gold plans to frequent flyers, rewarding members with bonus miles, priority check-in, priority seating on Alaska Airlines flights and free upgrades to first class seating within 48 hours of flight time.
Meals are provided free of charge to passengers in the first class cabin, while economy class passengers can take part in the "buy on board" program to purchase meals as they see fit. Alaska Airlines does provide wireless internet service to all passengers while onboard.
